Job Title: Occupational Medicine Specialist

Yale New Haven Health is seeking an experienced Occupational Medicine Specialist to join our team at the Occupational Medicine and Wellness Services clinic in Greenwich, CT.

Job Summary:

The Occupational Medicine Specialist will work under the supervision of the physicians and Medical Director of Occupational Medicine and Wellness Services to perform pre-placement and periodic surveillance examinations on patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health and be able to work collaboratively with co-workers and other healthcare professionals to ensure a high standard of patient care and efficient clinic operations.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform pre-placement and periodic surveillance examinations on patients, including collecting medical history, performing thorough physical examinations, and recording results in the medical record.
  2. Order, review, and interpret results of ancillary testing, such as blood tests, X-rays, and EKGs.
  3. Consolidate data and compare it to the physical demands of the position to make appointment placement decisions.
  4. Work under the supervision of the physicians and Medical Director of the department to evaluate employees with work-related injuries, illnesses, or exposures, and urgent care needs of patients.
  5. Develop and implement appropriate immediate care and follow-up, and in the case of injured workers, develop the treatment plan, including appropriate and timely use of physical therapy and specialists.
  6. Document information completely and accurately in progress notes, dictations, and discharge reports.
  7. Perform routine procedures as needed, such as foreign body removal, suturing, splinting, and wound care.
  8. Prescribe appropriate medication.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • One to three years of patient care experience in ambulatory, emergency, orthopedics, or occupational medicine.
  • NRCME-certified to perform commercial driver examinations (or willing to obtain within 3 months).
  • Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Active Connecticut State Registered Nurse License, Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License Board specialty certification.
  • Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, and DEA License.
Physical Demands:

The Advanced Practice Provider will provide clinical coverage for the Occupational Medicine office at Greenwich Hospital.
