Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Manager to join our team at Memorial Healthcare System. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the department, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement specific departmental goals, plans, and regulatory standards that directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations.
  • Determine and justify needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitor usage, and oversee proper working order and/or stock supplies.
  • Develop training material and competency assessment tools used by the department and ensure that all associated documentation is kept up-to-date.
  • Report test results in a timely manner according to established laboratory protocols.
  • Prepare policies and procedures required to keep the department in compliance with regulatory standards and inspection-ready at all times.
  • May perform method validations and ongoing method assessments.
  • Provide input to the budget as well as monitor expenses for the department.
  • Investigate and recommend testing procedures to be used in the department in conjunction with the Medical and Laboratory directors.
  • May act as the Laboratory Director when necessary.
  • Manage staff relations, including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
  • Perform and oversee scheduling, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Clinical Lab Supervisor License (SU LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL).
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience required.
Working Conditions

The Laboratory Manager will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment and will be required to lift or carry patients weighing 35 pounds or greater. The position will also involve working with hazardous materials and equipment.

The successful candidate will be required to work in a team environment and will be expected to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
