Position Overview

The role involves conducting forensic investigations of component system failures and water intrusion within building envelopes. Key responsibilities include:
  • Performing on-site assessments to evaluate and document building envelope conditions.
  • Exhibiting strong technical writing skills to compile observational data and research into comprehensive reports.
  • Participating in meetings with stakeholders such as building owners, contractors, developers, and architects; executing both field and laboratory testing.
Testing Responsibilities Include:
  • Laboratory and field window testing.
  • Field air barrier testing.
  • Laboratory ASTM E330 testing.
  • Field and laboratory fastener withdrawal testing.
  • Field and laboratory wind uplift testing.
  • Forensic analysis of field samples.
  • Moisture testing of field samples.
  • Field and laboratory assessments of exterior walls.
  • Training and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Reviewing calculations for new and existing structures concerning wind loading (ASCE 7), load calculations, attachment requirements, and drainage calculations.
  • Collaborating with design teams to develop detailing that supports calculated design loads.
  • Engaging in forensic evaluations of existing structures and formulating in-house testing protocols for in-service materials.
  • Assisting the principal in enhancing field analysis practices and training field staff in ASTM E2128 and ASTM E2018 evaluations.
  • Contributing to report writing and the creation of report templates, particularly in materials analysis.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Professional or structural engineering license is mandatory.
  • Experience in forensic analysis and building envelope or related construction fields is essential.
  • Willingness to travel to various office locations as required.
