Position Summary

As a Senior HVAC Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and rectifying heating and cooling systems while guiding customers towards informed purchasing decisions that align with the high standards of Plumbing Systems Inc. (PSI). Your role will also emphasize outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive HVAC service calls in residential settings.
  • Build rapport with customers to recommend appropriate products and services.
  • Utilize effective questioning techniques to identify issues with heating and cooling systems.
  • Guide customers in selecting optimal financing options and maintenance plans.
  • Discuss replacement options for outdated or inefficient systems.
  • Maintain awareness of service standards and strive to exceed revenue targets.
  • Present yourself as a knowledgeable professional to secure referrals and repeat business.
  • Collaborate with customer service and dispatch teams to ensure business success.
  • Keep job sites organized and maintain an inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Engage actively in training sessions, team meetings, trade shows, and retreats.
  • Mentor apprentices to ensure efficient and precise repairs and installations.
  • Complete invoices, time cards, and feedback forms accurately and promptly.

Qualifications

  • Valid license with a strong understanding of local HVAC regulations and practical application.
  • Demonstrated experience in heating and cooling systems, including the ability to create simple diagrams and interpret blueprints.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and training to achieve NATE certification.
  • Clean driving record and a focus on safety practices.
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Integrity and strong interpersonal skills to foster connections.
  • A desire for continuous improvement as a technician.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to read and understand technical documents.
  • Proven experience in installing, replacing, and servicing HVAC systems in both residential and commercial environments.
  • A competitive spirit, both as an individual contributor and as a team player.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Prioritize safety and possess a general understanding of safe work practices and OSHA regulations.
  • This position requires regular sitting, standing, walking, bending, and using hands for controls; as well as hearing and speaking.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in varying temperatures, and navigate tight spaces.
  • Must be capable of lifting and/or moving over 50 lbs regularly.
  • The work environment may vary with the seasons and job scope, requiring outdoor work.
  • This role typically operates Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call responsibilities.

The compensation for this role ranges from $35 to $45 per hour or more, based on relevant knowledge, skills, experience, and location, in addition to performance-based incentives. Other incentive pay may be included as part of the compensation package, along with a comprehensive range of medical, financial, and other benefits, depending on the specific position.
