As a Patient Services Representative at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, you will play a vital role in fostering a welcoming and respectful experience for patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Greet visitors and provide efficient support services, ensuring a positive first impression for our patients and families.
- Perform EPIC software functions, including patient check-in, check-out, demographic and insurance information collection, and daily eligibility verifications, to ensure accurate and timely processing of patient information.
- Answer and triage phone calls, verify contact information, and document messages, providing exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Schedule appointments, inform families of delays, and address or escalate complaints, demonstrating a commitment to patient satisfaction and care.
- Collect and process payments, reimbursements, and insurance referrals, maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
- Provide updates during shifts and team meetings, keeping colleagues informed of changes and updates in patient care.
- Maintain patient records while following HIPAA guidelines, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive patient information.
- Perform administrative tasks, including mail, faxes, photocopies, and other duties as assigned, to support the smooth operation of the patient services team.
- Rotate shifts, if assigned to a unit requiring 24/7 coverage, to ensure continuous support for patients and families.
- In the Emergency Department Admissions, tasks will also include SART paperwork processing, Nurse Call communications, and Trauma B-line, requiring adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of experience in a role that consisted of healthcare support services, registration, physician billing, medical records, medical office work, and/or customer service preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
