The Academic Success Center (ASC) team is seeking a highly motivated ASC Student Assistant. The selected candidate will be allowed to work up to 20 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing evening supervision of the ASC (3-4 hours a night).
  • Representing the ASC and engaging with students and families at outreach events (Pioneer Days, New Student Orientation, etc.) to help students envision themselves excelling with the support of the ASC team.
  • Assisting with the organization and facilitation of workshops.
  • Supporting full-time ASC team members with the planning and development of a summer bridge program and persistence summit.
  • Developing and coordinating student success programs as assigned and guided by the Director of Persistence (mentoring program).
  • Becoming familiar with the Center's mission and outcomes.
  • Developing a working knowledge and understanding of how to use the Center's tracking system, Accudemia, to sign students in and out for services (tutoring, workshops, student success coaching, etc.).
  • In the absence of the CAPS Administrative Assistant, greeting visitors to the center, answering phone calls, and directing inquiries to the appropriate ASC team member.
  • Assisting the Director of Career Workforce and Development with job fairs.
  • If applicable, providing mentoring in college success skills under the supervision of the Director of Persistence or Student Success Coach.
  • Other duties based on the student's knowledge and skills.


Qualifications

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong business management and computer skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication abilities. Members of the ASC team are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism through their dress, actions, and communications with faculty, staff, and students.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a standard office setting. Travel between buildings on campus is required; occasional weekend and evening work during specific periods and travel to other locations for training may be expected (e.g., conferences, etc.). Deadlines, disturbances of workflow, and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis.
