We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraeducator to join our team at Olathe Public Schools. As a Paraeducator, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in the regular classroom, resource room, or self-contained classroom.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in Supervision and Instruction: Provide support to students with special needs, assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of students in various settings.
- Implement Instructional Plans: Assist in implementing plans for instruction, monitoring student behavior, and providing information to appropriate school personnel.
- Classroom Support: Perform classroom clerical tasks, adapt and provide accommodations for classroom activities, and assist students with personal care needs.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with staff to provide necessary support and information related to student progress, and attend meetings and in-service presentations to acquire and convey information.
- Behavioral Support: Implement behavioral plans for students as designed by the IEP team, and assist students with challenging and/or aggressive behaviors.
- Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED, and 48 hours of college credit or the ability to pass the Title I assessment test (if the school building is classified as Title I).
- Knowledge and Skills: Basic math, reading, and writing skills, as well as the ability to understand complex instructions and operate standard office equipment.
- Physical Demands: Ability to run, walk, sit, stand, lift 80 lbs, carry up to 55 lbs, push and/or pull, climb, balance, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform fine finger dexterity.
Background Clearance and TB Test are required for this position.
