About the Role

This position is located at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital (CRBH) in a medical surgical unit. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will work under the direction of a registered nurse or physician to provide high-quality patient care. The LPN will participate in the nursing process, collect data, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The LPN will also contribute to the development of the patient database and interdisciplinary plan of care.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the nursing process for patients of all ages served.
  • Contribute to the development of the patient database and interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Identify patient/family/educational needs, incorporate into the plan of care, implement, and document.
  • Apply knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients.
  • Implement prescribed therapeutic treatment plan and procedures.
  • Administer prescribed medication to patients.
  • Demonstrate the role of patient advocate, protector of patient's rights, and provider of psychological/social/cultural support.
  • Contribute to Carilion's performance improvement activities and demonstrate support of service area/facility/organization initiatives.
  • Contribute to the orientation and career development of others.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Licensed to practice practical nursing in the state of Virginia.
  • Must obtain/maintain AHA BLS-HCP.
  • Specific experience and certifications may be listed in service line specific addendums to this job description.
