Role SummaryThe Analytical Research & Development team within Small Molecule Chemistry and Manufacturing Control (CMC) Development is focused on leveraging analytical chemistry expertise to guide the advancement of new chemical entities and their formulations in preclinical and clinical environments across various pipeline initiatives. This team operates in a highly collaborative manner, engaging closely with internal Analytical R&D professionals as well as teams in Discovery, Process Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, and Drug Product Development.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct method development and execute analytical techniques (e.g., (U)HPLC with UV/Vis or MS detection, Karl Fischer titration, GC with FID or MS detection, dissolution testing, and physical measurements) for the characterization and development of small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients, intermediates, starting materials, preclinical formulations, and stability samples.
- Independently perform laboratory tasks under the guidance of a team lead, including solution and sample preparations, stability assessments, instrument upkeep, and buffer preparations, following appropriate training.
- Assist in troubleshooting basic technical challenges with support from the team lead.
- Efficiently process and visualize analytical data, summarizing fundamental trends within the results.
- Maintain a precise laboratory notebook with a strong emphasis on detail.
- Validate analytical methodologies and conduct testing on clinical supplies, adhering to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
- Participate as a member of functional and cross-functional teams to drive business initiatives, executing tasks with team lead supervision.
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Organic Chemistry.
- Self-driven, diligent, and detail-oriented individual capable of thriving in a dynamic team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary scientists and engineers.
- Familiarity with analytical chemistry principles, with a willingness to develop and implement analytical methods.
- Practical experience with analytical chemistry techniques, including titrations, HPLC, GC, and compendial methods.
- Establishes robust relationships with peers and external partners to foster a productive cross-functional working atmosphere.
- Effectively prioritizes tasks and manages multiple activities within a given timeframe with team lead support.
- Quick learner who applies knowledge effectively and adapts swiftly to changing circumstances.
