Lifelines Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Financial Counselor to join our team. As a nonprofit organization committed to supporting individuals and families, we empower our clients to achieve financial stability and manage their credit effectively.

In this vital role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those facing debt and financial hardships. Your responsibilities will include assessing client needs, coordinating access to our services, and delivering financial education and promoting financial wellness within the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Assessment and Coordination: Answer incoming calls with professionalism, assess client needs, and book appointments for community clients.
  • Financial Education and Advocacy: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of financial counseling services, ensuring clients are informed and connected to the appropriate resources.
  • Client Support and Follow-up: Mail intake information and necessary forms to clients who have booked appointments, and return phone calls and respond to messages within the same day.
  • Client File Management: Organize and maintain comprehensive client files by gathering documentation, confirming appointments, and preparing counselors with the necessary details before sessions.
  • Financial Operations: Process client deposits and payments, maintain financial logs, and ensure accurate daily reporting.
  • Community Outreach and Education: Conduct financial and housing education workshops and seminars to promote financial literacy in the community.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in financial counseling.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, social work, or a related field is preferred; however, equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Financial Counseling Experience: Prior experience in financial counseling or a related field is preferred.
  • Certifications and Skills: Housing Counseling certification, preferred. Strong knowledge of credit, debt management, housing education, and financial planning principles.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with clients.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using financial software and tools for budgeting and analysis.
  • Personal Qualities: Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude to effectively work with individuals facing financial difficulties.
