Oklahoma State University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Human Development and Family Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and leading a dynamic research and Extension program focusing on personal finance to improve financial outcomes of individuals, families, and communities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a research program in personal finance, with a focus on improving financial outcomes of individuals, families, and communities.
- Lead an Extension program in personal finance, providing expertise and educational leadership to stakeholders.
- Conduct regular evaluations of the impact of Extension efforts and make recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as state agencies and industry partners, to advance the financial well-being of individuals and families.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with interdisciplinary teams to advance the teaching, research, and service/outreach mission of the department, college, and university.
- Establish an externally funded program that integrates Extension and research, garnering regional and national recognition.
- Contribute to a positive work environment and promote a culture of inclusivity and respect.
- Ph.D. in personal finance, family or consumer economics, family financial planning, or related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in personal finance.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey information both verbally and in writing to both academic and general public audiences.
- Capability to identify and proactively seek external funding for research and Extension initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to advance scholarship.
- CFP credential.
Salary will be commensurate with education, experience, qualifications, and contingent on available funding. Benefits include comprehensive medical and retirement plans.
About the DepartmentThe Department of Human Development and Family Science is one of the largest departments in the university, with approximately 30 full-time faculty members, 325 undergraduate students, and 55 graduate students. Faculty in HDFS have active programs of research and currently have projects funded by diverse State and Federal entities, totaling over $10,000,000 for 2023.
