Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate cranes to lift and move materials and other objects, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations.
  • Plan and execute lifts, taking charge of all safety aspects, including setup, operation, and capacity charts.
  • Perform regular equipment inspections and rigging checks to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Respond to verbal and hand commands from riggers or helpers, maintaining clear communication and coordination.
  • Monitor load travel and take corrective action to prevent injury to personnel or damage to property.
  • Read and interpret boom angle and drum rotation indicators, ensuring accurate operation.
  • Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities, as well as determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed for work activities.
  • Inspect subordinate work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, addressing deficiencies and implementing corrective actions.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with prior experience in the field or a related area.
  • Strong working knowledge and skills, with the ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with management and supervision.
  • Proficiency in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and layout tools, as well as measurement tools.
Working Conditions
  • Constantly move about a construction or industrial site, requiring the ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Work in a construction environment, exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions.
  • Irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays may be required.
  • May be required to use ladders, mechanical platforms, manlifts, or scaffolds to access equipment or work areas, necessitating the ability to climb and maintain balance.
  • Work in confined and cluttered spaces, with uneven surfaces, and in noisy and dusty environments.
  • May be required to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across the construction or industrial site.
Qualifications
  • NCCER certification.
  • Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, physical, and background checks.
  • Observance and compliance with all safety and project rules, with the ability to perform other duties as required.
