Ironworker Supervisor

As a seasoned Ironworker Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the erection of steel structures, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of tasks. Your expertise will be instrumental in managing multiple crews, planning workloads, and leading the installation of steel components.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
- Identify and procure necessary tools and equipment for tasks.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols to mitigate hazards.
- Fabricate equipment according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
- Hoist equipment and tools into place via bull rigging or crane.
- Verify the vertical and horizontal alignment of structural-steel members using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, and/or levels.
- Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
- Bolt aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting or bolting.
- Pull, push, or pry iron/steel equipment into approximate positions for bolting into place.
- Cut, bend, and weld iron/steel pieces using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple crews and plan workloads.
- Ability to take the lead in steel erection, fabrication, grid layout, rigging, and other tasks.
- Ability to perform all job duties of a craft trade.
- Ability to read and understand IFC drawings.
- Ability to make hang lists, read details off drawings, and locate and understand ECNs and holds on drawings.
- Understanding of when to stop production work and when to initiate an RFI.
- Knowledge of craft specs and cut sheets, craft spec procedures, and recommendations.
- Able to locate piece marks for correct views and know how to pick out different elevations.
- Knowledge of symbols based on legend.
- Knowledge of all types of safe rigging practices.
- Ability to dictate correct knots based on material.
- Knowledge of all aspects of connecting.
- Correct procedures of bolting.
- Fabrication.
- Ability to read cut sheets.
- Layout from drawing.
- Cut material from layout and cut sheets.
- Torque vs. Tension, knowledge of Torque and Values.
- Turn of the nut method.
- Different types of indicators.
- Understanding of how to use a Skidmore.
- Plan work and execute.
- Ability to take drawings, required material, line out helpers, and execute work.
- Knowledge of specialty tools.
- Basic knowledge of welding.
- Knowledge of cutting torch, setup, dangers, usage, cleaning, types of tips, and when to use different types of tips.
- Knowledge of JLG's man baskets, cranes.
- Basic maintenance (inspections).
- Safe operations practices.
- Signaling of equipment.
- Flagging of cranes, forklifts, man lifts.
- Tying knots for tag lines, etc.
- Math Skills.
- The ability to perform all craft duties.
- Current Zachry or Zachry ROF'ed employee.
- Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
- Experience working as an Industrial Rigger.
This position does not have any direct reports; however, the position will work closely with and oversee helper and labor positions. The position will hold a positional and expertise authority of the helper and laborer positions.
Physical Requirements- Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
- Will talk and hear to communicate.
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- May be required to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50lbs.
- Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots.
