Position Overview: The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University is looking for part-time instructors to teach a 3-credit course in Second Language Acquisition, available at both graduate and undergraduate levels. This course will focus on the intersection of linguistics and psychology.

Course Details: The course will be conducted in-person and is scheduled for Wednesdays from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The appointment is contingent upon sufficient enrollment.

Qualifications: A Master’s Degree is required, along with native or near-native fluency in the relevant languages. Previous experience in university-level teaching is preferred.

Responsibilities: Instructors will be expected to:

  • Develop and/or revise the course syllabus.
  • Order necessary textbooks and materials ahead of the course start date.
  • Prepare lectures, projects, and assignments for students.
  • Maintain regular office hours for student consultations.
  • Deliver instruction aligned with course competencies and performance expectations.
  • Attend all scheduled class sessions.
  • Submit mid-semester progress reports and final grades in accordance with university policies.
  • Grade assignments and exams promptly.
  • Facilitate student evaluations using department-approved forms.
  • Foster a positive rapport with students and fellow faculty members.
