Job Summary

The Academy Charter Schools is seeking a highly skilled School Counselor to join our team. As a School Counselor, you will provide counseling services to students who are experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, and/or learning difficulties that interfere with their academic success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and identify learning and behavior problems, including factors in the school environment that contribute to student difficulties.
  • Modify social-emotional, cultural, economic, and other environmental factors that negatively impact student success.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to develop strategies to support student success.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students.
  • Consult with school staff and parents to promote student growth and development.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers and serve as a liaison with the Committee on Special Education (CSE).
  • Provide mandated workshops on child abuse and child neglect to school staff.
  • Advocate for students and parents on issues that impact student success.
  • Liaise with community agencies to provide support services to students and families.
Requirements
  • NYS Certification in School Counseling required.
  • Masters Degree in School Counseling required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact successfully with all levels of school personnel, students, and parents.
  • Ability to liaise with community agencies.

The salary range for this role is $62,500 - $98,000. The Academy is committed to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
