Job Overview: The School Nurse Specialist is a key member of our team at Wake County Public Schools, responsible for ensuring that students receive high-quality healthcare services in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultation and training for school staff on medical procedures and student health plans.
  • Review and verify student immunization records to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Develop and implement Individual Health Plans for students with chronic diseases, working closely with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to promote student wellbeing and academic success.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to address health concerns and provide support.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid North Carolina Registered Nursing license.
  • National Board Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN) or certification by the American Nurses Association (ANA).
  • Two years of experience in school health or a related field.
