This position entails ensuring safety within the MRI setting while evaluating patients and proficiently conducting standard MRI procedures in line with established safety protocols. The Registered MRI Technologist serves as a clinical guide for junior personnel and students.

Qualifications

Education: Required - High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Required – Refer to Certification Section; Preferred – Clinical MRI experience.

Certifications: Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association; ARRT, ARMRIT, or CAMRT registered as an MR technologist, OR ARRT registered or unlimited state license with 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience, OR an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in an allied health field, with certification in another clinical imaging field (such as ARDMS or NMTCB) and 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience. Advanced certification in MRI is required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry within two years of employment; Preferred - Advanced certification in MRI recognized by the ACR Registry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Proficient computer skills for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Familiarity with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to the role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of MRI procedures and technical terminology.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Capacity to work efficiently and calmly under pressure.
  • Self-directed with the ability to function without direct supervision.
  • Willingness to maintain flexibility in work duties and hours, which may include nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
  • General knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and hemodynamics related to various disease states.
  • Skills to preliminarily identify stenosis or occlusion based on established criteria.
  • Ability to assist physicians with interventional procedures requiring ultrasonic guidance.
  • Capability to provide care and support services tailored to the patient's age, social, spiritual, and cultural needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy.
  • Utilize radiology information systems to enhance patient care.
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
  • Independently operate equipment to perform imaging procedures according to established protocols.
  • Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure they meet diagnostic quality standards.
  • Conduct timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and perform necessary notifications/remediations.
  • Assist in the facilitation of departmental operations, including inventory management, staff scheduling, and equipment maintenance.
  • Adapt behavior to suit specific patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy and effective communication.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
