Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Signal System Technician to join our team at Florida East Coast Railway. As a Signal System Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing railroad signaling systems and highway traffic control devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain railroad signaling equipment and highway traffic control devices according to layout plans and FRA regulations.
  • Analyze and diagnose operational malfunctions using testing devices to locate and repair issues.
  • Examine and repair mechanisms, replacing, cleaning, adjusting, or repairing parts, wires, relays, circuits, or signaling units.
  • Operate and test equipment to ensure elimination of malfunction.
  • Climb poles or dig trenches to install or repair equipment.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of all tests, inspections, and repairs performed.
Requirements
  • One year certificate from college or technical school in electrical field, or three to six months' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Work Environment

The work environment is dynamic, with regular exposure to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
