About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Program Instructor to join our team at AbilityPath. As a Program Instructor, you will play a vital role in providing engaging instruction and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide developmentally appropriate instruction to participants to help them achieve their goals.
  • Utilize modification techniques to respond to challenging behaviors and support behavioral plans to increase engagement.
  • Complete documentation for tracking participant goals and comment on progress and achievement.
  • Supervise and assist participants during volunteer activities, paid work, classes, and other community activities.
  • Responsible for travel training participants using public transportation and the safety and well-being of participants while out on community outings.
  • Participate in agency functions and attend staff meetings and other trainings as scheduled.
  • Maintain professional relationships and provide excellent customer service with external parties, families, caregivers, and participants.
  • Assist participants in personal hygiene as needed.
  • Drive agency vehicles as needed.
  • Transport participants to activities and events; provide route service as needed.
Requirements
  • 3 years of a Valid California Driver's License/ID.
  • 3 years of a Clean Driving Record (if applicable).
  • Proof of negative TB test results.
  • Verification of physical clearance.
  • Passing a criminal fingerprint clearance.
  • 21 years of age for driving positions.
Physical Activity
  • Ability to physically respond to adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to lift/support at least 40 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend frequently.
  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time and support adults with developmental disabilities on community outings.
  • Ability to drive company vehicles to transport participants.
  • Ability to sit and keyboard as needed.
