Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Swim Instructor to join our team at Bend Park and Recreation District. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching swimming lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels, promoting water safety and providing a positive learning experience.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver swimming lessons to groups and individuals, following established curriculum and safety guidelines.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices and industry standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other instructors and staff to achieve program goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current certification in Water Safety Instruction (WSI) or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Physical ability to perform duties associated with swimming and teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience working with children and adults with varying skill levels and abilities.
  • Knowledge of Red Cross WSI program and teaching methods.
Working Conditions

Work schedule and number of hours vary. Position requires being in and out of water continuously, and constantly using the voice in an often-noisy environment.
