Position Overview

Manage the daily logistics operations for the transportation of dairy products, ensuring efficiency and addressing challenges related to the distribution of milk and bulk liquid dairy products to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guarantee sufficient milk supply is available to meet customer demands and identify suitable milk loads for each client.
  • Develop and organize weekly master schedules that align member and customer requirements with planned load efficiency and profitability.
  • Collaborate with the management team to secure additional milk supplies when shortages occur and explore alternative uses for surplus milk.
  • Keep all stakeholders, including members, customers, contract haulers, field staff, and management informed of significant changes.
  • Reconcile daily pickups and receipts with customers, haulers, and members.
  • Negotiate transportation rates and establish travel routes and distances for both internal and external haulers.
  • Schedule the pickup and delivery of bulk liquid dairy products, monitoring rates and distances for billing purposes.
  • Investigate and resolve issues or challenges promptly.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers at the plant level to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Keep the management team updated on milk transport challenges, including rejected loads, and assist in resolving these issues.
  • Foster a culture of safety among company and contract haulers by adhering to safety protocols, regulations, and company policies.
  • Represent the company positively and professionally during interactions with producers, customers, and regulatory personnel.
  • Commit to safety, ensuring every employee leaves work in the same condition as they arrived.
  • Adhere to all good manufacturing practices (GMP) and operate in compliance with corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
  • Demonstrate the values and ethics of the organization through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Follow all quality, safety, and GMP policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformities.
  • Participate in required training sessions, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Safe Quality Food (SQF), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO).
  • Be available to respond to emergencies or unexpected operational needs, including nights, weekends, or holidays.
  • The responsibilities outlined are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by the employee; additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) with 5 years of experience in logistics, dispatching, or a related field.

OR

Bachelor's degree in business or a related discipline with 1 year of experience in logistics, dispatching, or a related field. Experience with SAP is preferred. Certification and/or License may be required to obtain and maintain in the future.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in company computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, rules, and regulations (DOT, GMP, PMO, USDA, OSHA, and HACCP).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure during setbacks and frustrations.
