An estimated salary for an initial appointment is $66,259. Refer to the Unit 18 Lecturer table for the salary range applicable to this role. Salary will be adjusted based on instructional workload calculations.

The School of Engineering is looking to appoint both full-time and part-time instructors to teach courses in Materials Science & Engineering.
Courses include:
- MSE/CHE 176 - Microelectronics Fabrication
- MSE/CHE 162 - 3D Printing Research and Development
- Additional courses as required
For detailed course descriptions, please refer to the catalog.
In addition to delivering the course(s), the instructor will be responsible for:
- Developing a syllabus
- Maintaining regular office hours (minimum of 2 hours per week)
- Assessing student assignments and examinations
- Calculating and posting grades
- Potentially leading discussion sections or supervising teaching assistants, readers, or remedial tutors.
This is a limited-term appointment governed by the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between the University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Employment terms and conditions are subject to UC policy and the relevant collective bargaining agreement.

Basic Qualifications
Advanced degree in Materials Science & Engineering or a related discipline. Proficiency in materials development for 3D printing or microelectronics fabrication utilizing the Synopsys fabrication simulation tool.
Preferred QualificationsPrior teaching experience at the college or university level is preferred. A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching that reflects broad experience with students from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of educational attainment.
