Job Summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates is seeking a highly skilled Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our team in Chantilly, VA. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of construction materials used in various land development and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field observations at construction sites to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collect and test construction materials, including soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed daily logs documenting your inspections and test results.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and operations teams to ensure project progress and address any issues.
Requirements
  • Reliable vehicle for field work and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 60-80 pounds of equipment and materials.
  • Ability to work in various outdoor climates and terrain.
  • Attention to detail and quality, with a focus on safety and compliance.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs and ability to use company-provided tablets.
  • Basic math skills and ability to use measurement tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and safety guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a construction materials testing technician or inspector.
  • Verifiable certifications, such as ACI, NICET, WACEL, etc.
