Join Our Team as a Fire Sprinkler Pipe Fitter

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Sprinkler Pipe Fitter to join our team at Pye-Barker Fire & Safety. As a Fire Sprinkler Pipe Fitter, you will be responsible for configuring, installing, fitting, and maintaining various piping systems, ensuring the smooth operation of those systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, install, and maintain piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials, including pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, steam traps, and strainer valves.
  • Consult blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions to create working procedures based on specifications.
  • Gather equipment and materials for the job.
  • Weld, cut, bend, thread, solder, and fit pipes.
  • Attach pipes and piping systems to walls using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps, cutting or boring holes prior to project.
  • Install various types of insulation and pipe covering, safely removing and properly discarding old coverings according to hazardous waste procedures and in accordance with EPA and OSHA requirements.
  • Inspect pipes, testing for pressure and leaks, reporting and/or resolving problems.
  • Coordinate with manager to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installation to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Comply with applicable safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Maintain records, including safety logs and inspection details.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
  • Ability to use a variety of tools, which may include blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and stretching to install and repair pipes and pipe fittings.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must possess visual acuity required to inspect piping systems and read plans or blueprints.
