Job Summary
The U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to join our team. As an Engineering Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining engineering data and records, participating in the development and operation of engineering data collection and storage systems, and drafting technical documentation for assigned engineering work assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update engineering data and records in accordance with applicable records management policies and practices.
- Participate in the development, maintenance, and operation of engineering data collection and storage systems.
- Draft technical documentation for assigned engineering work assignments, including reports, proposals, and other technical documents.
- Review and analyze data to ensure accuracy and completeness, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Provide administrative support in connection with regulatory compliance program oversight.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-06 in Federal service, or one full year of graduate education that is directly related to the work of this position.
- Experience in gathering and/or extracting data to prepare reports, assisting with cost estimates, drafting technical documentation, reviewing invoices for payment, reviewing estimates for accuracy, and entering data into an automated system and reviewing for accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data.
Education
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. A master's degree or higher in a field related to engineering or a related field is preferred.
Accreditation
Only education from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education is acceptable to meet education requirements or to substitute for experience, if applicable.
Foreign Education
To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.
