Position Summary:

The Industrial Coating Specialist is responsible for applying protective or decorative finishes to various surfaces, utilizing advanced application techniques and equipment. This role involves working with materials such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer to ensure high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning grease and dirt from products.
  • Utilize masking tape to cover areas that should remain uncoated.
  • Adjust sprayer valves and nozzles to control the width and pressure of the spray.
  • Direct the spray onto surfaces to apply primer or finish coats.
  • Maintain cleanliness of spraying equipment and brushes using appropriate solvents.
  • Remove rust from metal surfaces using acid, wire brushes, or steel wool.
  • Operate pneumatic, electric, or manual overhead chain hoists to position heavy parts for coating.
  • Use forklifts to transport parts within the assembly area.
  • Handle various tools, including hammers, pneumatic grinders, impact wrenches, and drills.
  • Ensure personal protective equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations set by the company, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow established methods and procedures.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Attention to detail and consistency in work.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Basic skills in mathematics, reading, and writing.
  • Capacity to work efficiently under pressure and meet production demands.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing materials, processes, and specifications is advantageous.
  • Mechanical experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity and stability for precision tasks.
  • Ability to see details at close range.
  • Capability to lift 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Ability to navigate through facilities and machinery, involving climbing, balancing, bending, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
  • Willingness to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
  • Must pass a Respirator Medical Evaluation to ensure job capability.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels.
  • Frequent exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
