Pretrial Assessment Officer

Lucas County, Ohio is seeking a highly skilled Pretrial Assessment Officer to join our team.
Job SummaryThe Pretrial Assessment Officer will be responsible for completing pretrial risk assessments to assist with judicial bond decisions and facilitate reduction of detention facility population.
Key Responsibilities- Determine Defendant's risk of failing to appear for court hearings or acquiring new criminal charges while in pretrial status.
- Authorize release of eligible Defendants prior to arraignment and assign court dates.
- Ensure Defendants have an understanding of their release conditions and next court date.
- File warrants for Electronic Monitoring.
- Ensure pretrial risk assessment reports and release paperwork are delivered to all area courts.
- Communicate with the Court regarding release inquiries/orders.
- Assist the Lucas County Sheriff's Office in communicating hospital admission information to the Court.
- Complete reports and maintain accurate log of completed tasks.
- Remove electronic monitoring equipment.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Judges, attorneys and law enforcement officers.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending applicable training as required.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma.
- NORIS/LEADS Certification required within probationary period.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with judges, other elected officials, Court employees, law enforcement officers, lawyers, outside agencies, businesses, and the general public.
- Ability to investigate, interpret, analyze, summarize and apply information to make decisions.
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate verbally and in writing in English to diverse audiences, and to produce concise, error-free documents and reports.
- Must be conscious of and sensitive to the diversity within the Court's jurisdiction and be able to interact professionally with this diverse population of people from many different geographic, socioeconomic, religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to prioritize work, work independently without daily direct supervision, and manage a variety of duties simultaneously.
- Must have good time management skills and be highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for the position.
- Demonstrated dependability, reliability, and excellent attendance record.
- Patient, objective, mature, effective under stress, initiative, adaptable, leader, and sound judgment.
