Mental Health Technician (MHT)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our team at Coral Shores Behavioral Hospital. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and support to patients with mental health needs, including assistance with daily living activities, medication management, and crisis intervention.
  • Work collaboratively with the treatment team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Assist with patient assessments, including gathering information and documenting observations.
  • Participate in crisis prevention and intervention efforts, including de-escalation techniques and physical restraint as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, including ensuring the cleanliness and organization of patient areas.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • At least one year of previous experience in a healthcare setting and/or previous behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Must complete and maintain training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
  • Must pass competency exams within 90 days of hire.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move efficiently and safely to meet the needs of patients.
  • Ability to sit or walk during work shift.
  • Ability to hear spoken words in a normal vocal range and respond to signals, alarms, codes, or other displays.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to write legibly and accurately convey information.
  • Ability to read instructions and complete documentation and reports.
