Protective Services Supervisor

Under the general direction of the Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS), the Protective Services Supervisor will oversee the work of a unit responsible for providing casework, client management, and continuing client investigation, assessment, evaluation, service planning, delivery, and monitoring for the Adult Protective Services Program (APS) at the Human Services Agency (HSA).
Key Responsibilities:- Plan, triage, and prioritize case assignments, supervise, and review case closures for Adult Protective Services.
- Participate in the selection of unit staff, coordinate and provide training, manage, coach, develop, evaluate staff, and implement corrective measures to improve efficiency and performance as necessary.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives for the unit.
- Monitor emergency tangible and non-tangible funds expenditures.
- Review and evaluate APS Worker case management practices through case reviews, coaching, and fieldwork shadowing as appropriate, to determine new or continuing social service needs.
- Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities, recommend improvements and modifications, and prepare various reports on operations and activities.
- Participate in community and professional groups and committees, collaborate with other DAS programs and other City departments such as Public Health.
- Use a keyboard to write reports and create correspondence as necessary to other Human Services Agency programs, clients, and other agencies and departments.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide consultation and short-term interventions for older adults and adults with disabilities who have been determined to be in need of protective services.
- A Master's Degree in Social Work from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or a Master's degree from a two-year counseling program from an accredited school or university.
- Two (2) years of experience as a social service case manager in the field of adult protective services.
- Some positions require possession of a valid California Class C driver's license.
The essential duties of this position require incumbents to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a limited basis and drive, normally within the City of San Francisco and occasionally outside City/County limits as necessitated by case work.
