The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a board-certified Metabolic Geneticist with expertise in biochemical genetics to join our team. As a key member of our section of Pediatric Genetics, you will be responsible for providing state-of-the-art diagnostic and clinical evaluation services and treatment for children and adults with birth defects and genetic disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and provide genetic counseling to patients and families regarding inherited metabolic disorders.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with metabolic disorders, including dietary modifications, medication management, enzyme replacement therapy, or other specialized treatments.
- Conduct or participate in research studies and clinical trials aimed at advancing the understanding and treatment of metabolic disorders.
- Monitor patients with metabolic disorders over time to assess their progress, manage any complications, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care for patients with metabolic disorders.
- Provide education and training to medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals about metabolic disorders, their diagnosis, management, and the latest advancements in the field.
