The Department of Medicine at University of California, San Diego is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to lead the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism as Chief. This is a tenured position that requires a strong track record of academic excellence, research, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide leadership in teaching, research, and patient care
- Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the Division's missions
- Foster a collaborative and collegial work environment
- Secure extramural funding to support research and academic programs
- MD or equivalent, MD/PhD, or PhD with an emphasis relevant to endocrinology and metabolism
- 5+ years of experience leading a clinical, translational, and/or basic research program
- Independent extramurally-funded research program (NIH R01 or similar)
- 5+ years of research in high-impact journals with 5+ grants and/or publications in endocrinology/metabolism
- National recognition in research
- Experience in fostering a collaborative and collegial work environment
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership in teaching, research, and patient care. The appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.
