Key Responsibilities:- Claims Processing: Efficiently processes and submits Medicare and Medicaid claims, ensuring compliance with payer requirements and organizational policies.
- Reporting: Aids in the preparation of monthly billing and accounts receivable reports to track financial performance.
- Record Maintenance: Maintains accurate billing and accounts receivable records to support financial integrity.
- Document Management: Notifies relevant management personnel regarding any late or missing documentation necessary for billing.
- Collections Support: Assists in the collection of receivables by monitoring overdue accounts and resubmitting bills as needed.
- Reimbursement Assurance: Ensures effective billing and collections operations to maximize reimbursement.
- Compliance: Maintains billing systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and adheres to state and federal regulations.
- Payer Knowledge: Keeps an updated understanding of payer contracts and ensures billing aligns with contract stipulations.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Stays informed on government billing regulations, particularly regarding Medicare and Medicaid, serving as a resource for staff.
- Data Reporting: Collects and reports essential billing information to the Finance Director.
- System Reconciliation: Collaborates with the Finance team to reconcile billing system reports with the general ledger.
- System Oversight: Supervises the billing information system, maintaining knowledge of system upgrades and enhancements.
- Relationship Management: Fosters positive relationships with patients, family members, payers, and referral sources.
- Pre-Billing Audits: Conducts audits prior to billing to ensure documentation accuracy.
- Financial Reporting: Generates monthly reports reflecting revenues, expenses, accounts receivable, and collections.
- Additional Duties: Performs other assigned tasks related to billing, data entry, and operational support as required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in accounts receivable or healthcare data entry, preferably within home health care.
- At least one year of experience in healthcare billing, ideally in home health care.
- Familiarity with McKesson software and/or exposure to various billing software platforms.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with proficient business telephone etiquette.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications.
