The OpportunityWe're seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant - Patient Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our clinical support team, you'll provide exceptional patient care and support our providers and virtual medical team with clerical duties.
You'll be responsible for providing best-in-class venipuncture services, performing and assisting with extended scope duties, and maintaining high standards of in-office care. You'll also be an ambassador for our patients, providing a positive and fluid in-office experience through patient intake, same-day schedule management, and follow-up scheduling.
As a Medical Assistant - Patient Care Specialist, you'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, from pediatrics to geriatrics, and provide individualized, human-centered care. You'll also be responsible for dispensary responsibilities, including verifying counts, maintaining inventory, and filling prescriptions for patient pick-up.

Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class venipuncture services to a diverse patient population
- Perform and assist with extended scope duties, including non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs
- Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling, and processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization
- Dispensary responsibilities, including verifying counts, maintaining inventory, and filling prescriptions for patient pick-up
- Support our providers and virtual medical team with clerical duties, including answering patient messages, following up on lab cases, and assisting with billing inquiries and DOH reporting
- Use impeccable C-I-CARE in all patient interactions and ensure a fluid and positive in-office experience through patient intake, same-day schedule management, and follow-up scheduling
- Perform front-of-house duties, including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, printing/paperwork tasks, prepping tests, and tasking to service level expectations
- Assist our senior patients with administrative tasks, including answering phone calls, sending faxes, and coordinating transportation
- Contribute to team development through rounding, attending team huddles, participating in team problem-solving, and supporting in-office providers with ad-hoc asks
- Perform opening and closing duties/daily office upkeep, including maintaining the look and feel of both patient and employee-facing spaces, restocking supplies, and organization
- Master our technology suite, including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, Circulation, RingCentral, and our Electronic Medical Record System, to interact with team members and complete daily work
Requirements
- At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in computer technology, including typing, navigating the internet, and using multiple software systems simultaneously
- Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (additional experience with remote teams a plus)
- A proven ability to display confidence and instill trust during the collection process while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care
- A proven track record of persisting through change, consistently stepping up to take action on challenges, and learning quickly and effectively when faced with new situations or tasks
- Phlebotomy experience and/or certification preferred
- Experience with extended scope care, including non-blood specimen collection and processing, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs preferred

Work Schedule
This is a full-time role (40 hours/week) with 8-hour shifts generally taking place Monday-Friday between 7:30am-6:30pm based at our offices located in Newton, Boston, and Cambridge, MA. Flex Lab Services Specialists lend support to multiple One Medical locations in a market and location and schedule are subject to change.
