Job Overview:

With a focus on the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, the company's investment affiliate manages a diverse portfolio of properties, including residential units and commercial space.

The AVP Accounting will play a critical role in overseeing corporate, property, investment, and partnership accounting, as well as financial reporting, commercial lease administration, and tax and insurance regulatory filings.

About the Role:

  • Lead the accounting team and ensure timely completion of financial operations, including month-end close, annual audits, and financial reporting.
  • Manage external auditor and tax accounting firm deliverables and ensure requests are met promptly.
  • Partner with FP&A on forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure strong operational and accounting processes are established for efficiency, internal controls, and scalability for future growth.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA with at least two years of public accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including managing a team.
  • Real estate or financial services industry knowledge and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Yardi (property management accounting software) experience.
  • Ability to develop and maintain reports using SQL, Advanced Excel, Power BI, etc.
  • Real estate tax preparation or review.
