Position Overview
The American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog is in search of dedicated individuals to enhance our retail services team. As a retail sales representative, you will be the welcoming face of our esteemed institution.
Key Responsibilities
As a vital member of our team, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing exceptional customer service to all visitors, addressing inquiries, and possessing a thorough understanding of museum exhibits and programs, as well as membership advantages.
- Processing admission and gift shop transactions utilizing various payment methods, including cash and credit cards, through retail technology.
- Safeguarding sensitive information with discretion.
- Overseeing gift shop inventory and preparing items for sale.
- Assisting with locker rentals and coat check services.
- Maintaining a clean and organized welcome area and gift shop to facilitate visitor flow.
- Collaborating with fellow sales associates and maintaining effective communication with management.
- Executing opening and closing procedures, including security measures.
- Performing general clerical tasks as needed.
- Supporting the upkeep of the AKC Museum of the Dog Library and activities table.
- Enforcing health and safety protocols, including social distancing.
- Guiding visitors and addressing general inquiries while monitoring gallery behavior to ensure the protection of artwork.
- Conducting light cleaning duties as required.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Strong customer service abilities.
- Up to three years of experience in retail or sales environments.
Licenses & Certifications
Relevant certifications are a plus but not mandatory.
