Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Progen Industries LLC is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing diesel engine repairs, diagnosing malfunctions, and maintaining automotive and mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply mechanical knowledge to power generation applications.
  • Perform diesel engine repairs, including locomotive engines.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment.
  • Disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and rear ends.
  • Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves.
  • Read job orders and observe operating equipment to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Attach test instruments to equipment and read dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Adjust brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
  • Change oil, check batteries, repair tires and tubes, and lubricate equipment and machinery.
  • Operate valve-grinding machine to grind and reset valves.
  • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of automotive or diesel experience.
  • Provide personal basic tools to perform job tasks.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational or Technical certification.
  • Able to maintain regular, full attendance.
  • Able to work overtime during the week and weekend.
  • Able to grow in the position with a positive and willing attitude.
  • Able to safely perform the essential functions of the job.
