Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Lifecycle Engineering team at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop innovative solutions to maintenance and manufacturing problems in a shipyard/depot level environment.
  • Collaborate with onsite technicians to solve complex problems.
  • Design and prototype equipment using large fabrication equipment, including lathes, welders, mills, and soldering irons.
  • Generate formal drawings and three-dimensional models.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline.
  • Proficiency in software including Solidworks, Siemens NX, AutoCAD, and Arduino.
  • Experience designing, installing, and debugging automation and control systems in the field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading teams of engineers on various projects.
  • Familiarity with integrating various analog and digital sensing technologies.
  • Previous DOD and classified work experience.
