Job Summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a highly skilled Equity Research Analyst to join their investment team, focusing on the Consumer sector. As an Equity Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research and analysis to support investment strategies in this space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough industry research and financial analysis on companies within the Consumer sector.
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models to forecast company performance, assess valuation, and analyze financial statements.
  • Track industry trends, competitive dynamics, regulatory changes, and macroeconomic factors affecting the sector.
  • Generate actionable investment ideas based on thorough research and communicate recommendations effectively to portfolio managers.
  • Monitor and evaluate portfolio positions and update investment theses as new data becomes available.
  • Participate in meetings with company management teams, industry experts, and sell-side analysts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA or CFA) is a plus.
  • 2-5 years of equity research (Hedge Fund/Private Equity) or investment banking experience, preferably with a focus on the Consumer sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to build and manage detailed financial models.
  • A deep understanding of valuation techniques, including DCF, comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity, initiative, and a passion for investing.
