Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medication Technician to join our team at American House Senior Living Communities. As a key member of our care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and services to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications to residents in a safe and accurate manner, in accordance with physician orders and company policies.
- Document medications administered on the medication administration record (MAR) and ensure accurate and complete documentation.
- Conduct change of shift reports with oncoming and outgoing shift personnel to ensure seamless care transitions.
- Maintain the security of medication carts and narcotic keys during shifts and conduct narcotic counts at the beginning and end of every shift.
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting, eating, and ambulation/mobility.
- Work collaboratively with peers and other team members to ensure residents receive comprehensive care.
- Participate in and support resident-centered activities programs.
- Assist with housekeeping tasks, such as bed-making, linen changes, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning bathrooms.
- Escorts residents and coordinates internal transportation needs.
- Assist residents with personal correspondence and telephone usage when requested.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to the Wellness Director or charge nurse.
- Conduct room checks and resident rounds to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
- Assist in various tasks related to dining, such as escorting residents to the dining room, setting up and cleaning tables, serving meals, and busing tables.
- Respond to emergencies in a prompt and calm manner, reporting incidents to the charge nurse.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and mandatory in-services.
- Document provision of services on company forms.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with associates in other departments to ensure necessary care and services are provided.
- Participate in projects or committees as assigned.
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Compassion and empathy for older adults.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
