About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at Correctional Health Services (CHS). As a critical member of our healthcare team, you will work with a diverse group of professionals to provide high-quality care to detainees in Maricopa County jails.

Our team uses evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and public health recommendations to deliver care. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for our patients and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with hospitals, medical providers, and community agencies to ensure continuity of medical care
  • Make recommendations to management on protocols, policies, and procedures to support surveillance, data analysis, and other activities
  • Obtain patient histories and complete physical examinations
  • Evaluate and treat patients as medically indicated
  • Document patient encounters according to CHS protocols
  • Develop and update individualized treatment plans for patients with chronic conditions or special needs
  • Order lab work, radiology studies, treatments, and medications as medically indicated
  • Refer patients to external service providers as medically indicated
  • Perform minor procedures such as sutures, incision and drainage of abscesses, simple splints, punch biopsies, and pelvic exams
  • Participate in peer review, in-service training, quality improvement processes, and other meetings necessary to improve patient care
  • Maintain applicable licensure and skills according to state law, department policies, and licensure agencies
Requirements
  • Two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing and a valid, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing
  • OR graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program with a valid unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the State of Arizona
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Infection Control or Public Health
  • Experience providing medical care in a correctional environment
  • Experience with disease detection, investigations, and related activities
  • Certified Correctional Health Professional
