Position Overview:

The University of Tennessee invites applications for a faculty role within the Oak Ridge Innovation Institute, focusing on the advancement of radiopharmaceutical therapies. This role is integral to the Development and Advancement of Radiopharmaceutical Therapies (DART) Convergent Research Initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee small animal PET/CT imaging and associated animal studies.
  • Lead innovative research initiatives in radioisotope applications.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with the DART team and other research partners.
  • Prepare and submit proposals for external funding opportunities.
  • Share research findings at conferences and institutional meetings.
  • Guide and mentor graduate students in their research endeavors.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Proven expertise in small animal PET/CT imaging techniques and data analysis.
  • Capability to mentor graduate students in preclinical models and imaging methodologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team-oriented research environment.
  • Eligibility for site-access badge at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in multiple areas of radioisotope research.
  • A clear trajectory towards independent research is preferred, with opportunities for collaboration.
  • Commitment to high-quality education and mentorship for students.

Additional Information:

  • This is a non-tenure track position with a 12-month appointment.
  • The position will commence with a three-year contract, including full salary support for the initial year, transitioning to a reduced salary structure thereafter.
  • Successful candidates are expected to secure external funding by the third year and recruit graduate students.
  • Continuation in the role will depend on the success in obtaining multi-year funding.
  • A competitive startup package will be provided, including support for PhD students and necessary research equipment.
  • Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience, and benefits will align with those offered to exempt employees at the University of Tennessee.
