Job Summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida is seeking a skilled Monitor Technician to join our team. As a Monitor Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients by accurately monitoring their vital signs and reporting any changes to the charge nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pull six-second strips every four hours, or as often as needed, to capture arrhythmias and/or changes in the patient's rhythm, and immediately report any changes to the charge nurse.
  • Ensure patient safety by accurately identifying patient name and room number on post strips.
  • Monitor central screens at all times to ensure timely intervention in case of any issues.
  • Facilitate proper utilization of telemetry by alerting the charge nurse of missing orders and/or prolonged monitoring of stable rhythms.
  • Inform Biomedical Engineering of any malfunctioning equipment and maintain records of repair.
  • Cooperate in temporary reassignment to other units/tasks when necessary to meet patient care needs.
  • Keep alarms on at all times with appropriate high and low settings.
  • Ensure the assigned telemetry box is on the assigned patient and know the location of all unit transmitter boxes.
  • Know the location of all monitored patients at all times.
  • Understand normal parameters for safe monitoring of patients and collaborate with the charge nurse for individual settings.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • BLS Required
  • EKG Certification is preferred
  • One year of Monitor Technician Experience Preferred
  • Previous Healthcare or Patient Care experience is Ideal
