Job Summary

Christus Health is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Therapist to provide per diem services across various settings, including hospitals, emergency departments, primary care, and ambulatory behavioral health offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide behavioral health clinical services to patients, including assessment, referral, and treatment planning.
  • Develop and lead therapeutic groups, such as cognitive behavioral, psychoeducational, DBT, and supportive therapy sessions.
  • Formulate treatment plans in conjunction with the treatment team.
  • Assess clients in emergency situations and initiate transfers to higher levels of care when necessary.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments and community resources to achieve interdisciplinary treatment goals.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling.
  • Provisional license in the State of New Mexico as a LMSW or LMHC.
  • Completion of prevention and management of aggressive behavior course within 2 months.
  • BLS within 6 months.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Knowledge of psychopathology and ICD-10 diagnoses.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a human services agency.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and intermittent exposure possible to blood, excrements, odors, and noise.
  • Work area has normal heat, light, and air.
Physical Requirements
  • Emotional and physical ability to cope with stress and physical nature of inpatient work with behavioral health patients.
  • Ability to handle emergency/crisis situations, prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required.
