Wildlife Biologist Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wildlife Biologist to join our team at ERM. As a Wildlife Biologist, you will play a critical role in shaping a sustainable future in California by working on environmental projects located in Northern California.
Key Responsibilities- Field Surveys and Assessments: Develop and lead field surveys, biological assessments, and implement permit mitigation measures in the field.
- Nesting Bird Surveys and Natural Community Assessments: Lead nesting bird surveys, natural community assessments, rare plant surveys, and preliminary aquatic resource evaluations.
- Mentorship and Quality Assurance: Mentor junior field staff and provide technical QA/QC assistance on deliverables.
- Data Management and Analysis: Data entry, data review, and expertise with ESRI fieldmaps and sub-meter GPS data collection.
- Regulatory Compliance and Permitting: Support preparation of CEQA and NEPA documents, ESA Biological Assessments, CDFW 1602 permits, and more.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
- Business Development and Proposal Writing: Prepare proposals, including development of scopes and cost estimates, and participate in business development with existing clients.
- Project Management and Delivery: Work on multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables and timely delivery of reports.
- Team Collaboration and Relationship Building: Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.
- Field Experience: This is primarily a field-based role.
- Education and Qualifications: BSc or MSc. degree in Biological Sciences, or related field.
- Experience and Skills: A minimum of 2-5 years in environmental consulting experience; prior experience in power sectors are considered assets.
- Preferred Qualifications: Preferred 2+ years field experience in addition to consulting experience with a focus on biota in Northern California.
- Regulatory Knowledge and Expertise: Expertise with federal and state regulations including ESA and CEQA, and guidelines pertaining to survey methodologies and environmental assessments.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in sub-meter accuracy GPS technologies, fieldmaps, and GIS collection techniques in the field.
- Personal Qualities: Strong commitment to safety, including following established health and safety protocols.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to follow directions and take initiative.
- Time Management and Organization: Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Travel and Flexibility: Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment.
- Valid Driver's License: Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Willingness to Travel: Must be willing to travel to field sites, frequently on short notice, and overnight stays throughout northern California.
- Botanical Expertise: Botanical expertise is preferred.

Annual base pay for this role is $71,764 – $81,320 USD, with an opportunity for an annual discretionary performance bonus.
