Amazon is seeking an exceptional Applied Scientist, Operations Research/Optimization with a strong analytical mindset to drive transportation planning and optimization initiatives across North America. As part of our team, you will leverage advanced mathematical models and algorithms to optimize logistics operations, ensuring seamless delivery experiences for our customers.
We are looking for a highly skilled professional with a background in Operations Research, Optimization, Supply Chain, Industrial & Systems Engineering, and/or Simulation. The ideal candidate will have experience developing complex optimization models, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving business outcomes through data-driven insights. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, develop advanced scientific solutions, and make a significant impact on Amazon's transportation network.
About You
You have a PhD or Master's degree in a relevant field (CS, CE, ML, or related) and at least 3+ years of experience building models for business application. Your expertise includes linear, non-linear, mixed-integer, large-scale, network, robust, stochastic, and dynamic optimization. Additionally, you possess excellent communication skills, are comfortable working with Python, Java, C++, or related languages, and have experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advanced optimization algorithms and models using Python, Java, C++, or related languages
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Business Intelligence Engineering, and Supply Chain/Transportation Planning, to translate model insights into actionable business strategies
- Design and maintain optimization frameworks, libraries, and tools to enable scalable and efficient optimization and automation capabilities
- Analyze optimization results, identify bottlenecks, and continuously improve the performance and accuracy of optimization models
Salary Information
This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Please note that actual compensation may vary based on factors such as location and individual qualifications.
