OVERVIEW:

Michael Baker International is actively seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Junior Geotechnical Engineer to join our expanding Geotechnical Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on innovative engineering solutions.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The selected candidate will work closely with senior geotechnical engineers and contribute to a diverse range of projects, including:

  • Conducting geotechnical field investigations and laboratory testing.
  • Assisting in the design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retention systems, and slope stabilization.
  • Preparing comprehensive geotechnical reports that summarize subsurface conditions and provide foundation recommendations.
  • Participating in construction monitoring and quality assurance activities.
  • Coordinating with technical staff to ensure the efficient execution of fieldwork and accurate documentation.
  • Supporting project managers in maintaining project schedules and budgets.
  • Engaging with clients and stakeholders to communicate project updates and requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards by preparing necessary documentation for permits.
  • Continuously enhancing technical knowledge through professional development opportunities.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Practical field experience.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain reciprocity.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical design software and Microsoft Office Suite.
