Accounting Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing the company's accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
  • Prepare tax-related data for year-end and compile company data for federal, state, and property returns
  • Assist management in preparing and maintaining the annual budget and track results monthly
  • Conduct executive briefings on financial results, including trend analysis and variance explanations
  • Manage capital spending reporting and perform bank reconciliations
  • Make monthly entries to the TB for review by outside consultants
  • Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules
  • Perform annual year-end audit, workers' comp audit, property audit, and sales and use tax audits
  • Maintain business filings and interface with other management teams
  • Review sales commissions and provide monthly, quarterly, and annual sales totals to sales staff
  • Oversee the AR and AP functions, including credit policies and collections determinations
  • Review monthly AR and AP aging and update weekly cash flow analysis
  • Manage company credit card and card holder expense reports
  • Assist with sales margin review and cost analysis monthly
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of strong general ledger accounting experience and 10 or more in a manufacturing environment
  • Accounting degree preferred
  • Strong Excel, database, and data analysis skills required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Ability to demonstrate written and verbal skills and competency
  • Experience with ERP systems required
  • Cost accounting knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Knowledge of inventory management and systems a strong plus

This is a full-time salary position requiring greater than 40 hours per week most weeks. There is opportunity to grow into the Controller position for a motivated candidate who is willing to put in the work to build the necessary skills and demonstrate them over time. The position reports directly to the President and manages the Accounting team.

Starting salary range: $90,000-$105,000 based on competencies. Bonus potential for performance measures hit by the candidate and company.
