Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Road Maintenance Worker III to join our team at the County of Del Norte, CA. As a key member of our road maintenance crew, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to road construction, maintenance, and repair.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the construction of fences, guardrails, and other structures.
  • Perform basic road construction tasks, including building, paving, patching, and smoothing.
  • Implement route and grade specifications established by engineering personnel.
  • Install, maintain, and replace traffic control and informative signs.
  • Load and secure materials and equipment on trucks for transportation.
  • Maintain safety standards and procedures in compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Operate heavy and light road equipment, including bulldozers, boom-trucks, graders, and other related equipment.
  • Perform traffic monitoring and flagging for road construction crews.
  • Perform yard and maintenance duties, including sweeping, mopping, shelving, mowing, and garbage disposal.
  • Perform general patrolling duties, inspecting and cleaning roads, access areas, and other problem spots.
  • Prepare and submit inventories of material and supplies used and/or transported.
Requirements
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of progressively responsible experience as a laborer in construction or landscaping work and in the operation of heavy road equipment involving moving solid material such as sand or gravel.
  • Ability to obtain a valid California Class A Commercial Driver's License within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • Experience with heavy road equipment, including bulldozers, boom-trucks, graders, and other related equipment.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to heavy equipment, hazardous materials, and inclement weather conditions.
