We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Systems Engineer to join our team at Rochester Precision Optics LLC. As an Optical Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design and analysis of opto-mechanical systems, working closely with a multi-functional technical team.
Key Responsibilities- Design and generate trade studies and performance predictions for optical systems
- Perform tolerance analysis and write test procedures
- Provide analysis to support optical system assembly and test
- Prepare technical content for bids and proposals, design reviews, and status updates with customers
- Strong skills in optical design and analysis software, including Zemax and/or Code V
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to be an effective member of a technical team
- Experience with mathematical computation software, such as Matlab or Mathcad
- Knowledge of image processing software, such as ImageJ
- Familiarity with optical metrology devices, such as interferometers, spectrometers, and wave front sensors
- Experience with CAD software, such as Solidworks or AutoCAD Inventor
This position works in a manufacturing environment with a clean and safe working condition. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
