Position Overview
The role of Forensic Scientist II, Screening is situated within Abbott's Toxicology Division. This position is crucial for conducting initial analyses on urine and oral fluid samples to detect substances of abuse, adhering to the guidelines established by regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain screening instruments while performing initial data assessments.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of various screening methodologies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to screening equipment.
- Meet established turnaround times and complete daily assigned tasks efficiently.
- Ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures to maintain donor confidentiality.
- Follow all guidelines as outlined in Abbott's Employee Handbook.
- Conduct screenings on all sample types using the analyzer.
- Participate in cross-training for Negative Certification.
- Dispose of specimens post-analysis in accordance with protocols.
- Complete all screening actions before the end of the shift.
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel to other domestic offices may be necessary.
Additional Information
- Flexibility to work varying shifts or weekends may be required to fulfill essential functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or a related field.
- Advanced understanding of analytical techniques and laboratory procedures.
- Proficient knowledge of laboratory instrumentation.
- Familiarity with certification requirements from SAMSHA, CAP-PUDT, and other relevant regulatory agencies.
- Basic understanding of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and related computer systems.
- Foundational knowledge of the substances being tested.
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay for this position ranges from $17.80 to $35.60 per hour, with variations based on specific locations.
